If you're going to move, do it early as an associate of senior. Once you make manager then networks are important. Your network as an associate is most likely you knowing several partners, but you're just another cog to them. Take the money and run. These firms don't look out for you (you got shafted on raise and VC) so you need to look out for yourself. They take our youth, give us stress, don't pay us what we are worth, think we are happy with 1% raises when they increase bill rates 4%, don't support us. Fuck em.
Also, if you mean move federal at Deloitte. Don't just do federal for utilization if you don't like those types of project. In the long run you won't be happy and in turn won't perform well and in turn will not make good merit and VC
Go. 1% is like a 50 cent tip at a restaurant. They didn't forget... it was carefully considered and the result was assholery
Head to Deloitte. Same ish just different place.
Go to Deloitte.
If "network" doesn't compensate you well (be it projects or money), the network is useless. You will build a network pretty quick at any place if you are sincere and provide value.
30% is enough to bounce. I wouldn't do it for less than 20-25%
THANK YOU @PWC1! I'm an associate, but I learned from my current EM that I'm charged at an SA rate. (It was funny, he was like "congratulations! I see you got promoted!" Bc he saw the stark increase in my bill rate and thought I'd been promoted) Screw them 😒
Go to Deloitte. Someone once told me network doesn't matter until you're SM / MD / Partner level
Go. That bad raise lasts forever
Agree with EY2, 30% makes it worth your while. 1% is kind of insulting... that's like getting someone a Starbucks gift card for they're EOY bonus...
If your VC was 0%. That means you were identified as a performing in the bottom 40-50% of your group. Unless you really think you're a low performer, that should be the biggest insult. Get the heck out, and don't look back.
@K3 Deloitte recruiter reached out on LinkedIn
For sure leave. By giving you 0 VC, they already made up their mind that they do not value you or care if you go elsewhere.
1% isn't even a raise, but a pay cut factoring in inflation.
It means that say you get a 10% raise next year, it's only 10% more than what you have now rather that 10% more than where you should be
@ey3 lol -well said!
@EY3 - agreed! Exactly how I felt. God I love my FB fam. Y'all the best 😘
@goerdeler I was SO offended. 12 to 14-hour days for 9 out of 12 months (total 3 mos on bench), and my VC was zero?!
@K7 I completely agree. 18 people around me got promoted, but I didn't. Hmmmm.
OP you should take the Deloitte offer. 100% take it. 1% raise versus 30%? I know you may like your network but fuck them bc they obviously don't like you (NO OFFENSE! I love you! ❤️). Your team gets on a call and vouch for how much money everyone should get. If your practice line is your network, then they did not vouch for you.
