Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Got laid off today at deloitte. Is anyone hiring

I know OP. I was thinking I would ask my cc (who I assume knows). For me, there will be no other conclusion because my practice lead barely knows I exist. This is not true for everyone however so good luck OP. I hope that it is something else entirely!
I had a counselee in this situation several years ago. They gave me a heads up including full details of severance package they would provide but I was not allowed to share with counselee. Counselee had a meeting scheduled with an MD and a person from HR. Meeting got pushed out once due to the MD having a client meeting. Then my counselee got staffed the day before his rescheduled meeting. Meeting was cancelled and he never found (at least definitively) that he was a day from being laidoff. He still works here 5 years later.
Don't worry though fishes im doing good and will be back in another incarnation...final round at another firm next week anyway. Still I rise!
Update us OP
Sorry OP. If so, there is life after layoff. Been there. One door closes, and another opens. Try not to take it personally.
It was a layoff - low utilization. Sweet package though - 4 months severance and cobra
That's exactly what I'm doing @CF1 - Peru next month for 3 weeks then st Bart's for 2 weeks then back to the states to start applying. Thank god wife is still making bank - she's an attorney- and we've been saving so we're not starving for $$
^^ how do you not take it personally?
@K1: it's hard to see it objectively in that seat, but it's business. Having said that, it hurts. Good luck and wish you all the best! Here's to hoping it's not a layoff meeting.
But@A1, I can't explicitly say that since I don't know what the meeting is about - his PA just sent me a note saying MD X wants a 1:1 meeting with you - sounds like a layoff meeting, but not 100% sure
Deep bench
Wow. Good luck
Been on the bench about a month
If Accenture keeps laying off people who've been on the bench one month they'll lose out on some top talent
Watch OP get a real time promotion instead
@A2 not likely, my CC would have told me. But then my CC along with my TFS are all totally useless
Op- wishing you best of luck. I'm on the bench and got an awesome role but now getting push back due to different region. Makes no sense. Penalize us for being on bench and then penalize us for finding roles that are not in region. Utter madness!
IS OP GONE?!?!!! 😭😭😭
And @all ACN strategy fishes, yea it's not so good. Start polishing your resumes, trust me
@CF1, at this point, not sure lol
