What is a reasonable rent increase %
Hi Guyz,
Any one from IBM ?
I went through the entire recruitment process and got selected for IBM ISL. Now I am being told by the HR that they are unable to release offer as there is a hiring freeze.
Can any one please tell me if its correct or just an excuse not to give me offer. If its true, when will this freeze be removed?

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I'd choose Phoenix, but that's because I love the city and am not terribly bothered by heat having spent 12 years in Florida. I asked Chat GPT to compare the two, and it said the MV equivalent to the $140k Phoenix salary is a whopping $360k. That's primarily because of the difference in homeownership costs. If you're planning to rent, that difference will be way less, although you are still dealing with higher taxes and prices across the board. End of the day, your money won't go as far in CA, but depending on personal preferences, that might not be the dealbreaker for you that it would be for me.

Spend a week in July both places, and you'll have your answer.
I’ve lived in the valley for over 8 years now. I think I know one part of the answer 😂
Great question. I have family in Phoenix and the COL isn't terrible but the weather is atrocious. I'd prefer CA weather and more money even with a higher COL.
Depends on you.. Where do you live? Are you willing to move? I would consider lifestyle, career growth, and the company benefits, then the pay. I rather get paid less and live in Arizona then CA. What are you considering?
