About to head to the HC for a role in ProdOps and Strategy in Mountain View. 4 YoE at MBB, no competing offers. Recruiter gave me a form that asks expected comp.
Levels.fyi has only PM salaries. I haven’t been told the level but expect it to be L4.
What total comp would you expect for this role? Any advice would be super helpful, as I’m a bit lost.

What are the roles? Congratulations on landing these offers, comp seems unreal
Both are senior technical accounting roles over financial reporting. I’m coming out of accounting advisory so I think that’s helping drive up the rate in a more niche role. But thank you very much! I feel quite lucky
Coach
B is a much better offer in terms of pay. You want to avoid sign on bonuses because you don't want to have to commit to a certain time frame. It also makes it seem like they have a retention issue which indicates people don't like the job
TM1 bc that “free” money could cost you. No one wants to repay a retention bonus if they end up hating the job or needing to quit
I would assume similar % increases in future years unless you have information to suggest otherwise. Based on that I have to imagine B is the better role from a comp perspective. Only you can decide if A would be a better fit based on the nature of the role and your interests/career aspirations. Does A provide quicker opportunity for advancement or otherwise set you up for a higher role if you leave again for another company?
There is an equity component which I excluded on purpose. It’s such a gamble whether they actually IPO, IPO at a good price, get acquired, or run out of funds. It’s “valued” at $120k based on internal projections, but who knows. There are opportunities for more equity options too, at promotion, as a 1-time bonus or for performance.
Congratulations 🎉. Which location btw ?
Thank you very much :) I’m in a HCOL, but not NYC, LA or SF level of expensive
Congrats on the options!!
Thank you so much. Feeling very blessed these days to have an exit route that’ll support my family and give me my life back (hopefully)
If you like A and think it’s a good opportunity then go for it. Ignore the year 1 comp and think about career progression and comp that comes along with it. Benefits, that potentially valuable equity grant, wlb, culture are all bigger factors to weigh than first year comp.
Totally fair. Those intangibles are what having me lean towards A, despite the lower comp. Thanks for reaffirming!
This is senior comp?? Wow
That’s amazing!! Congrats. Wishing the highest comp for all my fellow accountants out there
