Anyone who cannot determine whether their salary is appropriate should not be paid $75K as a Management Consultant. If you can't even figure out if you're employer is fucking you or not please leave. If this seems harsh I'm only telling you what anyone else with 10 minutes of experience would say. Grow up. Figure out your shit. And make a ton of money.
Figuring out your shit includes doing research, and this is the perfect outlet for this specific question. Tell me, when you are on a project do you not talk to any coworkers at all or get any honest feedback from those more experienced? Or do you just "solve" everything in your own head with no input from others to provide a different perspective? If the later, you need to figure out how to be a better consultant. I have spoken to all similar individuals in my practice and reviewed firm documentation, and I am on par with high performers at % increases. I have been ranked top 5 A1 and then #1 A2, which led to my promotion. My region however is Southeast, and I was given a low starting salary @55.5k. I wanted to ask the question outside of the KPMG fishbowl so as to receive feedback from others outside my company. I enjoy my practice and the work, but my practice does not preform amazingly, which has been the reason provided to me on low yearly salaries. I am trying to get an understanding if the gap is too large in the comparison of others outside of my practice to see if I should make a move as I'm one of the best paid associates/seniors in my practice for my region.
In addition to PwC 1’s comments, you also don’t tell us where you live or how you were rated your first 2 years, so how can we tell you what you should be making? And are you a 2nd year associate or first year senior?
More context is needed before I can weigh in with an solid opinion.
OP - I think you’re in a great spot as a first year senior in the SE. With that being said, I think you have the ability to make more if the type of work you do is marketable to other firms whose back bone is management consulting. KPMG and the other big four are fantastic places to work, but their overhead is generally much higher than smaller consulting competitors, which is why I believe you could expect a bigger paycheck at a smaller consulting firm.
No
Yes. We have first year cyber advisory people coming in at 70
First year managers in my practice make $100-115. Expected 3-4 years as senior before promoted to manager
OP
Until you're not an MBA from a top.university with already years of experiences, and working st Bain or McKinsey, you're not a management consultant. This is a lie big4 feed u.
Before I had to leave EY, I was making near 85k as senior in itra, so hope it helps
