10M is next to nothing by IBM standards I’ve brought more than that IBM as AP and never got more than 265k including commissions. Managing Partners need to bring 350M at a minimum to survive.
How many managing partners does IBM have ?
You should at least get some commission or profit sharing if you’re bringing in 10M.
If private, why doesn’t leadership view you as an equity holder? Would dig deep on that one. Overseeing and contributing is different than owning and leading.
Contributing to $10M in bookings is about what is expected of an average performing director/SM/AP in the larger firms. Would say you’re on target or maybe a bit below.
Not sure what market value is but $265k seems really low
265k is too low. Gut feel, it should be closer to 500k if a lot of this is self driven. Would love to understand more and happy to chat.
From a sales perspective, were you and/or the team directly responsible for generating $10MM in net new revenue this year? That's very different from managing or helping with an existing $10MM book of business.
Making sales strategies that the sales team then executes on is very different than being the people making calls and building relationships.
If you manage a team of sellers, I would agree that a commission structure and higher net OTE is warranted. If your team's role is more operational and supportive in nature, then I'd say you are about where you should be.
Do you or your team currently carry quota? That's the other side of the coin, if you want more equity in your teams farming ability, you may need to pull back salaries a bit and then be able to offer quota-based incentives to you and your team. If your team is salary only, then it stands to reason that you would also not get commission.
If you are certain that you and your team have a direct impact on bringing in that $10MM, then it's worth exploring changing up the company plan. The line is dotted for a reason, it's easy to claim responsibility for bringing in the revenue, but are you and your team also willing to take responsibility if/when revenue declines?
You make 265k and seemingly do no client facing delivery work. Seems like the dream.
