After 3.5 years at WorldTrips, my position was unfortunately eliminated, and I’m continuing to explore opportunities as an underwriter. I have successfully completed and obtained my Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

How does one tell their boss (owner of the company) that you are burnt out? The sheer volume of work is exhausting and I haven’t taken a true vacation as we are a small company so if something urgent comes to my email I feel like I must respond. I was given an additional title and more responsibilities last year as well but only a 3% raise for it.

However I have recently found out I am being paid the same as an apprentice on my team, I usually do at 3 x the work he does whilst also doing my Cert CII. I manage a performance for a team of licensed insurance agents (service-based role in a direct business environment), maintain our business relationships, and support adhoc training needs. Is there anyone else in this type of role who is able to share how this compares to similar positions and your general location?

Has anyone ever left Chubb to go to Liberty or Travelers for commercial or middle market underwriting or even a sales rep role? If so, how do you like it? Came from The Hartford and love Chubb so far, but curious to see what else is out there.

currently tossing up between staying at a global company (who is in the process of some positive changes) with an amazing manager who supports my career and flexible working … however comes with the inherit issues that come with a long standing global company

compared with a role at a smaller mga, higher salary (around 30%) more , more visibility career wise and some great employee benefits , management seem to be supportive and low staff turnover
