Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!

Good luck OP
Not sure why McK posts are so smug
Not sure about your last comment...
MBB and network is one in the same oftentimes...
Also what's your practice area and focus at the firm, if you don't mind me asking. Also did you use BIWS or WSO interview prep? How'd you tackle the LBO test? What will your role be at the PE firm? Will you get to be part of the investment team, or focus on the business growth strategy for portfolio companies? How's the base salary looking? Did you leverage your network outside of work to land the interview? Thank God your post doesn't say 'Engagement Manager'. There's hope for the rest of us
@C, I'm in our MC practice. The role is working with the CFOs of the Portfolio companies of a 2B fund, dealing with improving their financials and filling in as CFO as necessary.
I'm tired of working with CFOs and not getting results in my current job.
There is no LBO prep as it's more finance operations, but hoping to get exposure for learning purposes. Haven't talked numbers yet, but I was upfront with my current salary and know I can get a good bump. I leveraged my personal network, he recommended me to the hiring partner
(Not meant to sound smug. Just trying to be factual)
Congrats! What firm are you with?
As someone that has been rejected after a similar process, don't get your hopes up
Good luck!
Good luck!!
@C, yes, there is definitely hope for the non-MBB folks here! Goes to show networks are better than having MBB on a resume. This is actually the second fund I've interviewed for in the last 6 months. Got to final round and lost to a solid candidate
@McK1, it's me being politically correct. They had a box they wanted to check and they checked 2 with one candidate
@McK2, touché . For us non MBB people, networking outside the firm is key
If I went to an Ivy League school I def would've easily been at McKinsey. It's not rocket science.
@C, KPMG
@K1, appreciate any insight
OP good luck, would love to hear your success story. Please don't forget to come back and update us
Bc they're McK 🙄
^not guaranteed at all. So many of my brilliant friends weren't even offered an interview :(
Go get it OP!
