Have to disagree with the comments, 1 sounds way more stable. Have worked for solos, they promise big things in interviews so you'll accept lower pay and then when the rare trial comes along they won't have taken the time to prepare you to be ready, and when they decide to take on a partner they gonaianither established solo.
Money is not everything #2 will not only provide financial stability but mental stability as well. #2 FTW
Agree with you on #2
2
I’d want to know how many cases/what type of cases you’d be working on for #2, but I’d say the second option is best for your future
Agreed. Also, has the solo had an associate before? Dig in on those questions as they can be telling.
2. Think if your career in 15 years, not the immediate benefit.
Second choice is pretty obvious based on these facts. A far better choice. Experience alone is worth a lot.
I like the second option better. What state?
NY
Be cautious. I took number 2 and I was promised something similar. I was told that we would talk bonus structure after 6 months. It's now over a year and I'm absolutely killing it (solo'd a trial and everything) and the bonus conversation keeps getting postponed. My advice, get that in writing first. And I agree with others that you may want to look into whether s/he's ever had an associate or worked at a firm. If they've never worked at a firm, chances are they could be set in their ways and are not used to working with others.
I’ve only heard horror stories about solos.
