660k net worth at mid - late 30s still feel insecure due to no access to affordable Health Insurance. Health is ok, some dental issues. But, can we really call this a free country if one health issue can bring you on road? What are the options for health insurance if you try a new job and get fired?

You can always do COBRA from your old job or get on one of the exchanges. Depending on your situation you can also apply for Medicaid through you local assistance office.

Lol. The fact that you have 660k net worth and are still complaining is why we can call this a free country. Take a trip, open your mind.

Marketplace is income based that is your best bet otherwise pay full coverage cost on COBRA which will mean you pay your prior employee cost plus employer side cost probably $1,000month or so. Goodluck on next opportunities and agree USA needs better insurance options. Also, switching plans if you use insurance really messes up your deductive and out of pocket coverage.

I’m about to go independent and reached out to an insurance broker and the quote he gave me for my husband and myself was ~$1k/mo which is still ouch! but less than I was anticipating. But there are so many factors that go into determining best rate so its hard to estimate but definitely worth looking into. I feel like we are often pressured into staying in corporate jobs bc of health insurance and its really frustrating!

How many months you planning on being unemployed?

Not financially savvy (learning). I want to set aside $2500 a paycheck for a house down payment in 18-36 months. Does it make more sense for me to contribute the $2.5k to my 401k monthly and withdraw in 2 years, or just set aside $2.5k into a savings account? Already maxed ESPP. My end goal is to buy a house.

Something’s been weighing on my mind. I messed up in a steering committee & tripped infront of the Sr. Client Stakeholders. Now I find out he might’ve been laid off and I can’t help but to think it was my fault. We never really talked after this engagement but I feel like it’s my clumsiness that him fired and it makes me feel guilty and give a me anxiety.

Back again with a question for the McKinsey folks! 1. Is it true that if you are internal (specifically PD) you are not eligible for a performance bonus? Just base and the 401K profit sharing? 2. I know McKinsey offers a percentage of your salary into a retirement fund. The recruiter painted it as a range (from 7-12%), but other fish in the main consulting bowl said it’s either 7 OR 12% (no in between) based off of if you’re client facing or internal - which is true?
