77 hours from the next super bonus tier. I have about 25 pro bono hours that I could do, and I have about 12 billable hours that I will do. No real Christmas plans. Worth scrounging up those last 40?

Look at the amount of the difference between your current tier and the next tier. Deduct taxes. Divide that by 65 and ask yourself would work for that amount per hour instead of just relaxing over the holiday or doing whatever else with the amount of money you have. There is always a point of diminishing returns.

Thanks for the advice. I sent out a few strategic "let me know if you need a hand so you can enjoy the holidays" emails, but I won't deliberately try to crush the remaining 77 hours. I'm planning a long beach vacation in January, so using the remaining December days to get the body and mind beach ready will have more value than a few dollars.

If a firm has multiple openings that you’re interested in, is it a good or bad idea to apply to more than one position? I’m a third year interested in retooling from lit to general corp, but they prefer someone with 3+ years of corporate experience. They’re also looking for an M&A with 1+ years, so it may be easier to aim for that, but I’ve heard horror stories re WLB for M&A. I have a promising interview at a relatively large law firm in my area (+100 attorneys) next week. The position is for a transactional role in their real estate practice group, and they are seeking someone with at least 2 YOE. I have a bit over 7 YOE with a strong real estate/commercial lit. background. Over the past two years in my current position, I've been doing a lot more transactional work. The split is around 50% transactional and 50% lit.
