juul is a verb now?

Does it have to be a verb? Yes on Xerox and Hoover (thanks to our British friends) but how about Kleenex, Oreo, and Frigidaire?

And I am definitely older than y’all

WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook (add -ing to these and I'd bet people have used these in sentences, esp in EM)... Xerox also comes to mind

How soon is too soon to switch jobs? I went in-house a year ago, after five years as a MidLaw litigator. I always aim to stay at a job for at least two years, and not to move until it’s necessary; I also wanted to stay in this job for awhile as I’m still learning how to be in-house and have lots to grow. But the culture is poor and pay is average. Does it look bad to leave after 1/1.5 years? Is the stink of such a departure significantly lessened at the two year mark? Thanks in advance!

What are some easy to make, low stress holiday meals for a school holiday staff party? I was "volunteered" by our principal to set it up this year (🙄). I'm making decorated sugar cookies but kind of drawing a blank when it comes to savory dishes. Bonus points if you have any adult holiday themed games or fun drinks to suggest! It's off school property and there will be a bar (thank god), for context.

How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

I’m a 6th year associate at an AmLaw 50 firm. I received an offer to go in house at a hedge fund thats been around for a few years. Pay is identical to a 6th year associate in Big Law. Bonus is guaranteed for 2022. Culture seems legit and I believe work life balance is achievable. Is it worth making the jump to go from Big Law to a hedge fund that is in a growth stage? Thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I am sooo close to obtaining my degree in Business (next year) . I’ve been applying for jobs for the past six month and I am getting a lot of rejections. Most of them are in accounting because that is where I have most of my skills. I’m always commended on my work history and I know I can easily complete the responsibilities in the job descriptions. Is it best to just wait until I graduate?

I saw another post in this bowl about the “perfect finance candidate” & someone said that the perfect candidate is likely a friend-of-a-friend or family member of a manager. How much nepotism is there really in finance? I’m sure soon I’ll have enough experience and see it for myself, but I just felt curious about how much of an issue this has been for other people here.
