A member of my team is insisting on 1-to1 meeting with a female of my team to get their work done. This person does not want to be in these meetings alone. Nothing bad has happened but they are not comfortable but don’t want to say this to the person they are uncomfortable. Technically nothing bad has ever happened and they do need to collaborate.

Have you asked why they are uncomfortable? Is it that the requestor is condescending or demeaning in some way? Is it a coaching opportunity for both employees? Sounds like the concerned party may need to be a bit more transparent, otherwise they may be creating unconscious bias of the requestor.

1 on 1 "in person" meetings ?

Maybe a virtual meeting would be more comfortable. Do they need to work together?

It's common for women, especially from many cultures to not feel comfortable to do a 1:1 meeting with a male. Maybe a women could do the 1:1 meeting with the female coworker if it is necessary.

Are you responsible for giving performance feedback? Avoid giving personality based feedback. Examples include telling an Asian person they are too quiet/shy or telling a Black person they are agressive/abrasive. DO NOT DO THIS. It clearly represents bias in Performance Management. Performance feedback should be tied to business outcomes with clear examples of what the person does well + how they can improve.

Help- my SIL showed me two dresses she rented for my shower, and I think they are super bridal/not very appropriate to wear as a guest or bridesmaid. I have asked others and they agree. I feel like my own outfit, a simple jumpsuit, pales in comparison to how over the top these dresses are. What can I say or do? I've been seeing a lot of ADCOLOR posts on linkedin, and some of the people who are liking and reposting it are some of the same people who were blatantly racist and rude to me when I worked with them. I wish there was something I could say/do about it, but it's literally making my blood boil seeing them like posts about "uplifting" and "supporting" BIPOC, only because I know that once they get off their screens and they're the meanest people

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. Let’s talk about wrongful termination. The other day I was fired in the middle of the day without any warning. My colleagues called me because they were confused on why the Talent Manager dismissed me from the chat. I didn’t know what they were referring to. So I called my PM to ask what was happening, and she said that she just got off the phone with the TM and said they were terminating my contract on the spot due to me speaking up about micromanaging. If you are managing diverse talent, it’s important to understand what the term “privilege” means within a DE&I context so you can lead your team to higher levels of inclusivity+develop optimal strategies for solutioning around team issues/challenges. Everyone has some aspect of privilege depending upon the context. Privilege means the absence of obstacles/barriers, not necessarily the presence of perks. Though some would say *that* itself is a perk.

The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.
