Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Have an offer at Citi for 120K as an AVP in the NY office. Currently making 92K at my current role. Is this a fair offer? I currently WFH pretty much full time at my current role but it seems like this one requires 2-3 days in the office - and this is something I’m very hesitant about. Thoughts on how to approach this?
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Unless those interviews revealed more to the job scope, I’m not sure it would be wise to push for more. Starting at 90k and then agreeing with 83k was the time to say something else.
It's not a question of looking greedy, it's a matter of being serious. From what you're saying you went through a lengthy string of interviews, and you apparently want the job. If you want to risk it over three grand at this point it may look odd to a potential employer. Companies will rescind offers if someone comes off as unserious, so that's the real concern.
I’m sure they can find another 3k, but agree with C1. If it mattered that much, I think you should’ve asked for 86 before the lengthy run. Just my opinion tho
Yea, I agree with all of these comments as well. I think it would be a bad look to ask for the 3k now. I would accept the offer you have in front of you.
If you already went through the salary discussion because you weren’t happy with 75 and they raised to 83 and you said ok and then everyone thought that was acceptable and moved forward with the process. If I were the employer and you then came back and asked for more again I would be annoyed and would likely not make an official offer. At that point it wouldn’t be about the 3k but how you handled the situation.
This seems similar to having 2 offers and going back and forth between the companies trying to have them continuously raise the offers. Doing it once isn’t a big deal but if you go back and forth more then once the companies are likely going to get annoyed and move on.
