Definitely worth it! The tube makes getting in & out very easy. I highly recommend the Duck & Waffle for an exquisite evening with a lovely view. Is open very late too, so could show up at 9:30-10 for a dinner with ease
Duck and waffle is great and open 24/7 - what airport are you going into? That makes a difference for how far in you want to go
You don’t have much time. I’d take Heathrow Express to Paddington and stay right there at Hilton. Then taxi or walk to an evening out. Heathrow express back to airport at 9 am latest. You can roll from bed to train in 5 minutes.
Depends which airport and how must rest you need ! Heathrow is about 120 in a taxi to the city of London and an hour on the tube so once you clear the border you might not make it until around 9/9:30 and you’d have to leave 9am if you’re taking an international flight at noon. There will be loads going on Friday night though
Heathrow Express is less frequent than the tube, so that needs to be factored into the equation, too. If you stay on the Piccadilly line (many great options), it basically neutralizes any time savings.
I’m flying into Heathrow from Turkey, and then taking an international flight back to the US on Saturday!
Would you guys recommend a specific area to stay in that’s central to everything?
Being central to "everything" isn't very important given your time constraints. I would stay near either Paddington for Heathrow Express or anywhere between Gloucester Road and Green Park for the Piccadilly line.
Soho
Spend the night drinking at Sushi Samba (well, everything closes a bit early but do what you can)
I've stayed at the Great Northern Hotel (Marriott Tribute Portfolio) at Kings Cross several times with a similar itinerary and it was easy to get to.
