A small company contacted me for an on-site interview at their headquarters. I said yes immediately without asking about travel costs, and it's a 3.5-hour drive round trip. The salary range is 20-30% below what I normally earn, but I'm casting a wide net right now. Part of me thinks I should go since I already committed, but is it worth it? What would you do?

Could you reasonably relocate? If that's not even an option, I would probably cancel on the interview. That's a crazy amount of commute to be commuting.

Would it be for a remote job? Or would you be relocating? If you have been having a difficult time getting interviews and you are desperate for a job, then I would probably take it. If it's for a remote job that is. I wouldn't be relocating for something that is this paying 30% below what I've earned previously.

You can still follow up and discuss compensation and travel since they like you. There's no harm. There's just tact involved.

We definitely need a recruiter to definitely for this one.

Hey All,
I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

I was discussing my recent job search with some friends and we got into a small debate. I stand firm on not wasting my time applying for a job that doesn't post the salary with the job description, anyone else do this? I feel like anytime I have interviewed for a job that didn't post the salary, they end up lowballing me during the offer phase.

Is anyone concerned the push for sexual equality in pay without accordant leveling of parental leave is gonna backfire?

Here’s a hypothetical:

A company has 2 candidates, aged 25-30, equal in every respect save one’s a man the other’s a woman. Maybe the woman is a slightly better candidate overall. They’d have equal comp.

Company considers the woman a riskier bet due to possibility she’ll take maternity leave — and considers the man less risky for his ineligibility to take as much leave. 🤷

Bridge between Customer Support and Product Design?

Hiya! I am in the final round of interviews at an EdTech platform for a role that is the bridge between the Customer Support and UX/Product Design teams. I act as that bridge in my current role but on a more informal basis because it is a smaller company.

Would anyone be willing to share their perspective (positive or negative) on the Product/UX end of this relationship? I want to make sure to ask the right questions.
Thank you!

My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. Do I take the high salary and stay in claims or go for UW in hopes it will be best in long run?
