About 6 months ago, my boss left and I was promoted into her role- managing about 2x more people than I previously managed. One of my peers was on mat leave when this happened. She is back and it is clear that she is struggling to see me as her manager. She is combative, talks to me as though we are peers, and challenges me in front of the rest of the team in a way that makes it clear that she doesn’t respect me as a leader. I know the course of action but y’all. I hate this part of the job. 😞

I am only 4 months into being a surgical coordinator. I love the position itself however I am struggling to adapt into my new work environment. There is also another surgical coordinator however I have come to find from other staff that there is a long history of her running other staff away and not fully training other surgical coordinator staff properly. I’m not from an English speaking country but I am watching a tv show and businessmen walk into a room and instead of greeting eachother, everyone says each person’s first name in lieu of hi, however in my experience working in the states, I haven’t seen anyone do this, it’s always hi or good afternoon or some other greeting first THEN they say their first name. is it also appropriate to omit the greeting?

Any advice on how to tastefully tell your manager that you no longer want to be a charge nurse anymore? For us being in charge is having full assignment 3p-7p & being responsible for assigning pts , communicating w/ supervisor about various issues, making the assignment for next shift, and a mini report about each pt for the next charge. On the weekends, same responsibilities but 7a-7p. We don't get any additional pay for being in charge and I'm sick of the added responsibility and stress of it.
