I'm only 3 months into my Accenture life but will share what I've learned. Being billable matters most, so unless you can somehow secure a billable project ASAP, you might be stuck on this one for now. Honestly, it may not be all that bad esp if the client is good. You'll learn how Accenture manages projects, client relationships and a lot of non-project skills.
Thank you!

I would ask the partners (or level equivalent) about the longer-term plan for you there at that account.
It may be they really need someone at your skill level to get the project back on track. It may be that they want to embed you in the account because there's a bigger project coming up soon. It may be because they want to embed you in the account so you can backfill the senior manager when they go on parental leave.
Great points! Thanks

Demonstrating that you can perform at the level below is common at MBB and T2. Just crush the project, and then you’ll be staffed at level.
Yup! That’s correct. I don’t think it’s courageous; it’s realistic. I know what I want, I have enough “prestige” brands on my CV already and I think at some point more money doesn’t bring you more joy. I like having some semblance of WLB so that I can ride my horses, drink wine, and snowboard 😉 Maybe I’ll regret my decision in the future but for now I feel like this was the right choice for me

Op enjoy the ride. SM pay and lower expectations for first project sounds like they are setting you up to over deliver, win win.
As a new SM you aren't up for MD, so 9/1 through 7/31 are realistic times that matter. We do year end reviews starting first week of August.

I just joined as manager and doing analyst work. Leaving in 3 weeks

You joined Accenture?
Just get tagged on some ops in salesforce and you’ll be good from a sales contribution perspective. I enjoy the delivery work more and wish I could have stayed at an M level
Lower expectations and no need to sell or play to firm politics
A lot of firms are short staffed on junior roles right now so this is to be expected but should not be permanent. You are new so be smart politically and accept the role. It could be worse.
I know this is hard, but might suggest putting your ego aside a little. Accenture has a LOT of high performing managers outperforming SMs. At the end of the day, if the client and team is good, that’s all that matters. You still get paid the same and when they recognize your talents they will find other opportunities to increase your workload and give you more efforts to lead. I promise nobody on the projectthinks you’re at a lower level and is judging you for it —they’re probably just feeling so lucky they found a highly qualified SM to join their team!
Total.
I was over at Acn before at a M / acting as a SM role for a good spell.
1 - how big is the team your managing and how big is the overall project?
2 - how stable is the work stream?
3 - what type of project is it? Strat assessment versus long running SI?
The other piece of advice - Accenture does a crap job of cross educating the MC/Strat folks with Tech folks. Try and learn the tech on the project your on even if it’s not your background

What are you required to do as a manager versus what you are expecting to do as a senior manager?
Talk to the MD that sold the work as well as the Portfolio lead if it's not the same person. See if the objective is to get these two junior people organized and then use your time to grow the deal or sell more into the same client or group.
The objective might be to have you master our crap (but necessary) tools like MME, MySceduling, MMP, MMS. Then to use your free time to sell more work.
No project can afford a SM doing a C or M role. There is likely a bigger plan that hasn't been communicated.
