In my experience, it ends up being the same people doing the majority of the work and others coasting by. Unless there is firm guidance on who should be doing what and when, the harder workers are going to be doing too much, but that's usually just in their nature. And it's going to lead to a lot of frustration for those coasters who are doing little work for the same amount. The only pro to me, is that it's easier when people go on PTO. Another con is that it's hard to develop good relationships with the people that you're supporting. It's difficult to get accustomed to the style of how people want things done when you're not the one consistently doing it.
It’s too blurry on who will handle what. Somebody thinks somebody else will handle it, and then things start slipping through the cracks.
