I would say that as a manger of a large team, I and HR always think that there’s a 50-50 chance this will happen. It’s the employee’s prerogative and children truly change your perspective. How could they not? 😊 if you’re already on leave tell them as soon as possible so that they can have as much time to replace you. In order to protect yourself though, I would advise to tell them after you have the baby and you’re on leave.
50-50 seems high? but perhaps I am more invested in my career and comfortable with being a working parent.
Are you on maternity leave now or pregnant and thinking ahead?
Thinking the same thing. I’m pregnant. Although I feel like I could maybe do it with WFH so I’m on a fence about it. I DONT KNOW HOW YOU GUYS DID IT BEFORE WFH.. i can’t image leaving my baby at 3 month :( especially since I commute far and hours can vary, I just know I wouldn’t be able to do that for sure, it’s so early, I feel for mother’s who have to do it and have no other choice especially pre pendemic and having to over perform to proof something to someone. So much pressure for working moms, I’ve also witnessed some awful behavior of man in my company towards working moms BEHIND THEIR BACKS.
