Have a conversation with your partner, not sure it ll make a difference this year but at least it ll set you up for next year!
Yea, if you ask politely and say please
I did it but I had another offer - you have to be willing to walk
I disagree with EY3. You can go to the table and ask for more if you are worth more without the threat of leaving. If you threaten walking they will remember that and won't trust you for it down the line. Even if they give you the money now to stay.
@A1 I agree. I also really love the people I work with and my work life balance is amazing. So I genuinely do want to stay. I've consistently been a high performer (5/5 YE review last two years) so I'm hoping that I can build a case without having to pull the "...otherwise I'm leaving" card
That convo needs to happen before round tables and with your counselor and ED/Partner
Round tables have already happened. I ask because I got promoted to manager but know that currently as a senior I'm extremely underpaid compared to the market. I imagine I'll get a decent bump, but I don't think it'll be enough to close the gap
Any other strategies on how to have this conversation? Or does anyone have insight on how the process works - does the partner who you have your comp convo with have to go back to leadership and formally present my case, etc?
Yeah I think that's a good plan OP. And there is nothing wrong with bringing up your market value. But you can do that without the threat of walking. Just emphasize why you deserve the bump and the impact you have and hopefully they will recognize it too. Good luck!
