What is the best possible way to avoid such hirings !
Some people are really good in faking during interview process. We only found out about their true competence when they joined the company and had to let them go after 15 days. It’s huge cost in terms of time and money

ATS is who "feeds resumes into systems," though. Most ATS are set up so that the applications are routed BY THE ATS to the hiring manager, and the hiring manager selects whom they want to interview from those applications. That's certainly how our Indeed contract works.
Now, despite us HR people all being such awful monsters, defend the fact that well over half of the applications I do look at are flat-out lies. We ask how many years of a specific, absolutely necessary skill they have, and they say "5" or "8," when the truth is they have NONE. Literally NONE. Is that HR's fault, too? Or is it OK for people to lie like that because they're desperate, as someone else here once told me?
