I would encourage you to reconsider this advice, OP.

“Laid off” implies that your position was eliminated due to market conditions and/or changing business needs. “It ended up not being a match”‘could be (mis)interpreted in so many ways and create unnecessary red flags through the eyes of decision-makers.

That said, don’t overshare if you don’t have to - if you’re in the final stages of interviews, the timing could work out in your favor.

I was asked to increase my hourly rate to $350. I had a consult three years ago and my hourly rate was $250. The same consult return to the law firm but asked for a junior lawyer. I have no issue with the junior lawyer. Any advice on how i can retain a consult at my new rate and not lose it over?

Hey CDs and ACDs: when you were mids and seniors what do you wish you'd had to help you grow and get to the stage you're at now?

I'm a senior AD and all the resources out there are for juniors. I'm not sure what I need - I feel pretty confident in most areas - so maybe all I need is time to practice and get better. But is there something you did/wish you'd done to improve your abilities, develop your career path, or open your mind?

Would it be better for me to give a month notice or two week notice for a job im starting mid-March. I feel bad if i leave my team with only a few weeks notice to find another staff for my engagements. However I don't want to feel shunned by my teams for leaving. What do you all think?
