Already United 1K and AA Plat for 2020. Choosing between connecting U flights or direct AA flight to next project (both full fare biz). Should I now shoot for U GS (not guaranteed) or AA exec plat?

I’ve been GS for 6 years. I would 100% take a direct flight over connecting United even if it meant losing status. Adding a connection just to make status is insanity.

Agree 100%. I have been GS the last 4 years and I take directs on other airlines all the time when available

I'll never understand splitting. Even if you don't get GS, you still earn 11x award miles at 1K

I personally base it on direct flights for possible alternative travel. For me, that's AA. Right now I'm interested in knowing how often do Exec Play fliers actually get upgraded versus United

Depends on the route. I’m exec plat on AA and get upgraded every flight for small cities (eg Pittsburgh, Cleveland, DC) but rarely for major cities (Dallas, NYC). Flying out of CLT though FWIW

If you think you have a shot at GS, you should go for it. I saw a table showing the 2019 qualifying renewals and new invites earlier this year. If you can find it and meet that criteria, would stick with United.

Oh man sounds like I should go with the ultimate gamble on GS. High risk high reward baby!

As an associate you are flying first class? Unless you are flying PAID first/business, you have no shot at GA. True story, a friend flew 350k miles and spent like 50k in a year with United. No GS. You get it for buying lots of the right type of tickets. If you are buying a lot of coach... you stop at 1k. Exec platinum you can get without question. However, that’s not their top - Concierge Key is equal to GS but same issue as above... unless flying a lot of first - zero chance

McK has a good relationship with united. I had a boss there that got it with 35k

Don’t fly aa. If you have status you can do status match on other airlines. American Airlines is cancelled or delayed 9 straight times out of lga now

I’m traveling to Maine from Georgia in a couple of weeks and will be flying into Boston and renting a car. I am reading about Mass. Covid travel rules and I am wondering if I would qualify as a transitory traveler since I’m just passing through. The website only talks about people that are driving through so I was wondering if anyone has done something similar recently. Also, if anyone has flown into BOS recently, how did they check to see if you exempt from the Covid rules?

COVID stimulus question for the tax experts here, I received my COVID stimulus check based on the 2018 tax return. Our AGI reduced in 2019 as my spouse did not work for a few months and based upon 2019 AGI we should be getting atleast $600 more in stimulus. Can we still claim the $600 with 2020 returns even though our 2020 AGI is higher than both the previous years?

Every day since i joined has been miserable and I just don't feel motivated to work. Also work life balance has been sketchy. Changing jobs is really challenging due to immigration restrictions and bad economy. Any help fishes? How should I deal with this?
