I’ve been GS for 6 years. I would 100% take a direct flight over connecting United even if it meant losing status. Adding a connection just to make status is insanity.
Agree 100%. I have been GS the last 4 years and I take directs on other airlines all the time when available
I'll never understand splitting. Even if you don't get GS, you still earn 11x award miles at 1K
I personally base it on direct flights for possible alternative travel. For me, that's AA. Right now I'm interested in knowing how often do Exec Play fliers actually get upgraded versus United
Depends on the route. I’m exec plat on AA and get upgraded every flight for small cities (eg Pittsburgh, Cleveland, DC) but rarely for major cities (Dallas, NYC). Flying out of CLT though FWIW
If you think you have a shot at GS, you should go for it. I saw a table showing the 2019 qualifying renewals and new invites earlier this year. If you can find it and meet that criteria, would stick with United.
Oh man sounds like I should go with the ultimate gamble on GS. High risk high reward baby!
As an associate you are flying first class? Unless you are flying PAID first/business, you have no shot at GA.
True story, a friend flew 350k miles and spent like 50k in a year with United. No GS. You get it for buying lots of the right type of tickets. If you are buying a lot of coach... you stop at 1k.
Exec platinum you can get without question. However, that’s not their top - Concierge Key is equal to GS but same issue as above... unless flying a lot of first - zero chance
McK has a good relationship with united. I had a boss there that got it with 35k
