This on this logic? He recommends buying Christmas presents now, any items you plan to stock up on or need in the short/mid term future now, etc. Not saying something drastic is imminent but global supply chains issues are causing localized outages or shortages on a variety of things and market pricing is adjusting (inflation, demand, higher wages) so if you can afford and can find things you want maybe it makes sense to stock up now.

How do you have 9 months off? Just thinking if it’s parental leave or some sort of medical leave it might not be a good test case for eventual FI. Also, you know… pandemic.
Self discovery is hard. Someone recommended me the book “designing your life” and I still struggled with how to motivate myself
That’s so true. I don’t know what I want to do with my life yet. I am 38
Sounds like mental health more than the FI’s fault.
Or just a type A that really loves working. The right job can have great benefits for mental stimulation, social interaction and sense of purpose.
Yea. It’s also expensive to do the things you love…
How far into the 9 months are you? I know I take a few weeks to decompress before I’m ready to start branching out.
What’s keeping you from doing things?
Lack of motivation tbh. When I work I use all my vacation and have traveled to 50+ countries. When it’s no longer time sensitive don’t feel the pressure/urge.
