Yeah, the bottleneck in the supply chains is largely in shipping. If you add in the holiday boom with already stretched thin shipping resources we’re in for a hoot.

like

The bottleneck in the supply chain exists in nearly every step. The chips that make devices “smart” are in short supply and cost more. The water supply needed to make those chips is short. The people that pack components to bring to factory lines are short staffed. Factory lines are down due to Covid outbreaks. Can’t find people to pack product into boxes, or boxes onto ships. Those shipping containers cost 3000% more now, and once they are on ships, ports are backed up due to labor shortages sometimes sitting out of cities on boats for a couple weeks. Come off the boats and then even the last mile to get product in hands is slower.

I dunno about a drastic / catastrophic failure of supply chains, but certainly things are already delayed in many markets, and the holiday season for e-commerce will start like next month and continue until the end of the year. I foresee that any products/gifts/etc. that are already in short supply will probably continue to be scarce for the rest of the year.

With the supply chain constraints, it’s taking about 80 more days than before to import items from overseas. A lot of companies that import products will have trouble keeping things in stock during the holiday season. If it’s needed to have by Christmas, I would consider buying now or next month. If it’s something you can delay or wait to have the physical product, then wait till black Friday’s discount but know you it may be delayed.

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

How do I get into a project? How long do I have to wait more?

Hi folks,

If a person resigns on April month when yearly reviews are going to happen and bonus are being sent out.
So, can he get the performance bonus because he served the last whole year with dedication?

It would be helpful if managers can answer this because they are the people who approves or decline this request.

An agency I freelance for wants to hire me full-time. They told me for a Sr Copywriter, 100-110k. I countered with 125-150.

I also said I'm interested in a higher-level title - I currently freelance as a Creative Director of Copy elsewhere (they don't have that title at this agency.)

They came back and said yes to the title and to 125, with a 6 month review that could raise it to 145.

Which is good for Sr Copy, but low for CD/ACD level. Don't want to screw myself over. What to say now?

Why does fractional real estate have such a bad reputation? For context, have about 2 million saved plus house worth another million. Early 40’s. Generally follow FIRE, but being cooped up for covid has been tough, and wanna buy a fractional out west at Jackson Hole, where I’d love to go skiing every year....so I have something to look forward to. Would cost about 50k for access to 1 week in winter and 1 week in summer. Plus HOA fees of 5k/year. Thoughts? Watchouts?
