Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.

The market is saturated with talent. And a lot of the jobs are ghost jobs. You may be doing absolutely everything right, and still won’t be getting call backs. It’s definitely not on you. If you really like a certain role, it couldnt hurt to include a Cover Letter extrapolating on any additional details/numbers/accomplishments. And reach out to the hiring manager directly. Good luck 🍀
That’s a really common question a lot of people worry that skipping a cover letter is what’s costing them interviews, but in most cases it isn’t. Most recruiters don’t read cover letters unless they specifically ask for them. Tailoring your résumé and getting it in front of the right person usually has a much bigger impact than attaching an optional cover letter. The real key is making sure your résumé clearly aligns with the job description and gets past the initial screening filters.
When I was navigating similar concerns in my own job search, I worked with a job search specialist who helped me understand what actually matters to recruiters and how to get more responses. If you want guidance on improving your strategy or getting more interview traction, you can reach out to her at carolynchristiehiringteam.gmail.com.
