I would go to a local jeweler and get a dupe/rep, it’s pretty common, real diamond real gold and your supporting a local business instead of a brand that’s overpriced
Resell value of Cartier bracelets has plummeted bc even Cartier can’t tell the difference between a dupe or a real one anymore
I wouldn’t - at higher TC/savings
Do it! And happy early birthday!
I’d personally cap a splurge/milestone purchase at $2/3K if I were you
I also just got a big bonus that would essentially cover the cost, but I know it is a lot of $$$ and I’m still relatively young (20s)
Man good for you! YOLO seriously. Enjoy and celebrate these wins!
You’re not crazy. But it’s not smart investment either. How big is your rainy day fund?
idk why people are saying don’t. if it’s a milestone gift to yourself, and you have 2/3 of your TC just in savings, and you really want it. go for it. you’re not putting yourself out. if it’s effecting financial goals of yours or going to impede you financially then i’d think it over, but it doesn’t seem likely that that’s the case. don’t make a habit of large purchases but you’re allowed to get yourself things you want
I wouldn’t either. Respectfully, I feel like $12k is a bit right since it’s almost 10% of your gross tc. And unlike some, I don’t see the bonus as separate - I see it as part of comp (with just a bit unexpected variation up or downwards); no one plans a splurge on payday, do they?
That said, I splurged with my wife on some luxury as well, so I really can’t judge.
Personally wouldn’t but each to their own!
YES. You can buy a new Rolex for that price. I got the one without the Diamond and had enough of the 12k left over for a necklace and a ring to match it.
Are you responsinle in other areas in life? If so, a splurge here and there is what life is.
I am also biased bc I just splurged myself 😜
$12k is a drop in the bucket with your savings and TC.
With that being said, I’m biased because I just spent around that on a new Rolex for hitting a big birthday. Slightly more TC but no savings and a big mortgage … it made me happy and I’m not homeless because of it.
I also suggest considering a second property down payment
I splurged with double the comp (also no kids no debt) on a $3k purchase so yeah it'd be a little crazy to me.
You’re just paying for the brand markup! Can buy a more classic piece for the price that would have more precious metal and diamonds in it if you got a tennis bracelet. Not to mention the JUC screams one brand and is very in your face. Go for it if you love it, but you can get something more worth the price if you look outside the Cartier world. Or maybe go for a Tank since it has more history.
Girl I’m in the same boat! Cartier is having a price increase on April 16/17th. So if you want it, get it now. I am looking at the small JUC ($5K ) vs. Hermes CDC ($8K)
PwC1 I know. I say go with Hermes if you want a Birkin Kelly or Constance down the line.
Do it girl.
I wouldn’t! I think it’s a product that doesn’t serve any purpose and people get tired of it. It’s not like a birkin that can be commonly resold (JUC resale value is lower). If you wanna splurge that’s fine but jewelry should have inherent value, or instead purchase a practical item.
Absolutely get it! You have more than enough savings. $12k is a relative drop in the bucket compared to what you already have saved.
I did! Go for it!
