Any advice on how to explain boomeranging? I honestly just had a better experience at another Big 4 and want to go back. But everyone in my phone interviews so far seems super skeptical of me.

Your convincing needs to be a really good story. Let them know what you genuinely like in comparison to your current firm (more stories) and give them glance of your vision around what you plan on doing once you are back (again in a story form).

Op: what was the other firm? What did you like about it?

Same here OP... HR didn't seem to buy it even though the partners were onboard...

@P2 that's exactly my situation!

@P1 it's the people honestly. I felt more supported at the other firm. It was still super competitive but more team focused.

Hi Fishes,
Can you decline the job offer after receiving the offer letter when you haven't even accepted it? Would it cause any problem? Also, sharing your payslips, current job offer letter BEFORE getting an offer from any prospective employer is safe? Capgemini I joined sometime back at D1 level , I do technical work most of time like coding, dev,testing etc.
I have worked a lot in my 14 years and still have required skills needed for the work. I don't have energy to slog any further. Moreover I get anxiety when I see junior level people doing same work as me and earning more or same.
I feel cannot sit longer hrs due to back issues and other health issues and family commitments.

Can I change to management side without risking my job .

I’m being recruited back to a bank I left 6 months ago. Was contacted by a recruiter this week because I had indicated in my exit interview that I would consider a return to the firm in the future. When I left this bank for my current employer… I received a $30k bump. I’ve never been recruited before and am curious what questions I should ask? Is this a good sign? Would it be wrong to ask for an additional $25k to go back?

Interviewing with a company I’m excited about and they requested to have the next level (I believe final level) be pushed to the second week of January since they’re team is overwhelmed. I agreed and suggested times and am waiting to hear back. Meanwhile I had another company reach out this past week for a role I’m less excited over. They’ve already reached out for my final interview round this week. I already disclosed that I’m waiting to hear from a company I’ve been interviewing with. Cont’d.

So here is my dilemma:
- based in the UK
- opportunity for lateral internal move (culture&engagement) or stay where I am (reward). I am mid level IC struggling to progress due to flat structure so considering lateral move then hopefully up from there.
- 2 primary aged children, currently have flexibility in current/new role too
- Husband just got accepted on a international rotation which means I will be single parent for the short term.

We are a very small firm. I have had a paralegal working for me for 14 years. She is my longest tenured employee. She is good but by no means a superstar. I have given her a raise and bonus annually. I am trying to figure out at what point I might stop giving her raises. On the one hand, she is a valuable employee. On the other hand, I could probably get someone cheaper who could do the job as well and giving a raise every year because she expects one may be too generous. I appreciate input.
