Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

What has been more beneficial to your career and why: specializing in a service offering or an industry?

Is CIPD a valuable certification? Is it appreciated in Europe only or US too? I have an opportunity to get it but not sure if knowledge is really up to date and worth time spent.

CTC dilemma:
I have 13 yoe . I am working with a global Bank for past 9 years . My current CTC is about 18 LPA which is bit on lower consider side considering existing market conditions. At my experience level , CTC should be around 30 LPA or more . I am getting offers however HR speaks only about 30% hike over CTC . How can I correct my CTC as per market.

My ctc excluding employer pf is 12.58lpa. i invstd 96k in elss and 40k in lic. Along with this 48k epf and 2.4k as PFtax. HS rnt is 1.2LPA. I covered whole 80c but still 13k was deducted as tax this month. I am unmarried and don't want to take any medical insurance premiums. Any ideas how this 13k was came as Income tax?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. Hello! I’m gearing up for my year end comp conversation and I’d like to be a better idea of what people are making to ask for a raise. I work for a large asset manager and sell alternative investments (PE, RE, Credit, Infra etc) to RIAs, family offices, and multi family offices. I’m currently an associate, but am hoping to get VP this cycle. Any insight on what your comp looks like and how it’s structured would be super helpful!

Due to obvious conditions my comp for the calendar year (salary+bonus) is back to 2017 levels although my overall sales are more than double and 1/3 less total comp than last year. It seems like comp opportunity is always decreasing during good times (I get it) but when it comes to adjusting during bad times, nothing was done. Is this normal for industry sales?

Is it possible to make a high salary in wealth management while still maintaining some degree of work-life balance? How do people do it? It's a mystery to me

Hey guys, so I have competing offers. One at Bank of America for 124, and one at Allspring for 110.

Does anybody work at Allspring? They did not provide any information regarding benefits, 401k match, or any annual bonus structure. I was told, verbally, that the Bank of America bonus is something like 15 to 20%, but nothing in writing.
