How to cook everything by Mark Bittman. Great book since it also offers guides for basic techniques but also basic recipes every cook should have in their foundation.

Joy of cooking is a classic.

Salt fat acid heat great way to learn about balancing these 4 cornerstones of any dish.

The flavor Bible great for learning about specific ingredients, spices, and seasonings

I also love Mark Bittman. His How to Cook Everything: The Basics is really great for beginners because it is easy to read and has a ton of pictures that provide a step-by-step guide.

Cook's Illustrated is a great cookbook, but expensive.

Americas text kitchen is great! They give the science and explanation behind every tested recipe. It helps you udnerstand the chemistry and process of cooking better so you can eventually branch out on your own. I personally love their Cook for Your Gut Health, it’s delicious, simple healthy recipes with some often uncommon ingredients that have helped me out of my cooking comfort zone!

New to Toronto, moved to the west end of town/ just past - in Etobicoke. I celebrate my 40th a few days after NYE/NYD - would love some recommendations on moderately priced but nice ambiance restaurants for myself + husband, and my extended family. Everyone is scattered throughout (Hamilton, Barrie, Lyle, Newmarket, North York). Don’t want anything too fancy but don’t really know where or what is good and not downtown.

Any recommendations? (Open to GTA of course).

Book recommendations for 6th grade?

Just saw this quote from the Minari movie ads and it kinda reminded me of being in BigLaw:
“Minari grows: It comes in the pockets of immigrants, dies in the first year, thrives in the second, and purifies the water and the soil around it.”

Hey fishes. I have been offered Management Consultant role with CTC break up in terms of JB, RB, fixed and variable. So is the fixed amount my gross salary without any other deduction except TDS, or will the organisation contribution to PF be also deducted from the fixed component? Also, will claimable components like LTA, mobile bill reimbursement etc. be in addition to this fixed component or will they be included in it?

Will Deloitte india revise offer based on the current offer?

I got offer from Deloitte for around 14.5 (fixed + variable) for 4 years of experience in SAP.

But now i have better offer for around 17 LPA.

Is it a good decision to ask Deloitte india for a revision?

What are the chances that they'll revise the offer?

As it’s been getting colder I’ve been dabbling in soups. This is a brie and mushroom soup paired with balsamic onion & mushroom toast. It was super tasty and really hit the spot. It can also be used in place of cream of mushroom from a can in recipes if you’re looking for a different taste.
