I had interviewed with Deloitte UK consulting in June/July and was called by the HR team by the end of July that the interviews were positive and they're sending for approval for an offer to be rolled out. I was called back later in September and told that the role is on hold due to a hiring freeze. Is anyone else in this situation and have you'll heard back from the HR team post that
Bain & Company I have a second round with Bain & Company coming up at the DC office for Experienced Consultant role. Excited, but hella nervous. Recruiter said it’d be 3 separate interviews, all with Partners; 2 case, 1 fit. About 40 mins each. First round was 2 case interviews with Sr. manager & Associate Partner. Been a rough year, so definitely looking forward to this opportunity. I’ve been on the site and going through preparation and materials. Any advice or suggestions welcomed!

Jesus Christ. We’re not having mass layoffs. Everyone needs to chill.
Mass layoffs seems like an exaggeration. Are we having larger than normal attrition in the form of layoffs? Yes. For those that are outside of firm, the concern is that it's not the typical trimming of low performers. Its seemingly random, with some very high performing individuals in groups with slow pipelines being let go. Definitely concerning, but I wouldn't categorize it as a mass layoff.
Even “sizable” may be a stretch. It’s sizable compared to the last few years. But is it truly a very high number? Idk
Never before in the history of the English language has “IBM” and “MBB” been used in the same sentence in reverential tones...
With that attitude, you wife will definitely hate you 🤣
I was laid off last week. Zero notice, and none given to my coach or my current project’s leadership. No one knew, and I had great feedback. Literally, no one is immune. Again, I emphasize that I informed my Coach and Project Mgmt. They had NO IDEA. As someone said earlier, Consulting & HC were definitely hit the hardest. So while we can wax poetic about whether it’s “massive” or not, this is NOT just “business as usual for low performers”. Not even close. This is way beyond that. And while I’m not upset by the decision, I know some people are devastated. Don’t downplay what’s happening for “optics”.
Thank you. But honestly, it was time for me to move on. I was trying to hang on for one more year to get more certifications, but I’m really at peace about it. I’m sad for those who still very much so loved the firm, and didn’t have any exit plan in place. I was already passively looking at other opportunities. Some people are absolutely devastated and it sucks for them.
What is actually happening over at Deloitte?
Sounds good. Beat of luck to you and your team members
Do not come to IBM.
It’s not a good place to be. Deep bench. No training. Few projects. Those we do have are trash. Competitive base to get you in the door then low to non existent bonuses. Dismal raises. Trash trash trash.
Didn't IBM just go through a wave of layoffs last year? I constantly hear that their GBS undergoes perennial crises and soul searching
