I got a covid drive thru test in July and now the medical provider sent me a $700 bill for that and my Uhc insurance has rejected this. I know healthcare in America is screwed up but did not realize the extent of this. Does anyone know what my options are? I thought covid tests need to be covered by insurance under CARES act

Yep and Deloitte covers it too. You should check with your provider my 200 dollar at home test was fully paid for by UHC

like

Was a precautionary test for travel or something? Or were you symptomatic?

Insurance usually covers if you say you were symptomatic or if you say you had close contact with a confirmed case. But if you just took one to be safe so you can see your folks or something, you might have to pay. May want to appeal say you had contact with someone who was diagnosed with COVID

Not what you want to hear now, but always go to the public health ones, not private clinics. It is a little like ERs, the ambulance takes you to the wrong one, they code the treatment in an unfavourable way and you are screwed. The public testing sites are generally free even for surveillance, at least in my state.

Ask why UHC denied, could be many reasons. Once you get the specific denial, talk with your provider! Were you getting tested for travel purposes? I heard if you were getting tested for travel there were odd rules about this.. but I could be wrong?

Hmm that doesn’t sound right. I would make sure you didn’t screw something up before blaming others

I’m sure that’s what you tell your clients as well. No wonder you work for KPMG

So I got both my insurance provider and the hospital billing rep on a conference call. Seems like hospitals are charging any testing done on their premises as an ER visit and billing both the test and ER visit separately. Insurance cover what they cover and the remainder is billed to the govt since they are paying for any covid related ER visits. From the explanation I got I understood that hospitals are minting money from the govt at peoples expense and treating pandemic as their personal fortune maker. #merica

I have got it for free visiting testing sites and not private hospitals

Seems that the vaccine that usually takes more than 10 years to develop, test for side effects and go through the regulation process is being very fast tracked to roll out - which is a super great thing to potentially eradicate the virus. on the other side of the spectrum, people with life sciences n healthcare insights, how reliable and safe would you say vaccine (being fast tracked) is...?

Do you pay your credit cards in full every month?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.

I’m in a little of a pickle but a good one. Offer A. Established “start up” doing well financially and projected to hit profitability. 130k base. Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different. I know some may think it is a no brainer but offer A allows me to grow the department ground up whereas offer B id be apart of to just different
