Any good plays for middle schoolers besides the Anne Frank play, The Miracle Worker, and 12 Angry Men? I already know about plenty of short plays, but I am trying to think of longer ones for units. Anyone teach any other plays in middle school for advanced students?

Inherit the Wind. A Raisin in the Sun. Any Agatha Christie play. Barefoot in the Park, Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Glass Menagerie. Antigone.

Both excellent choices. Our town's lead character, Emily, is a teenager, so that is a connection for the kids.

Does the play have to be a play? Can it be a musical? Can it be contemporary? What is the purpose of teaching the play? Is it structure?

All of this will help me help you! ❤️

I teach the Christmas Carol in 7th. They love it.

We did Our Town in 7th grade and it was interesting. Also The Frog Jumping Contest of (can't remember...), I think it's Twain? Has been made into a play.

Hi everyone! Looking for feedback / suggestions. (6th Grade) I want to do a class read aloud & have students discuss different components & comp skills (types of conflicts, analyzing characters, etc…) but I feel like the high ones will be the only ones who talk, or the students will get off task & talk about other things. Any ideas on how I can gauge understanding w/o them just writing the answers down? I’m looking for a balance of open discussion & accountability.

Embarking on a challenging mission: going to try and read a long form novel together. Starting it next week.

Does anyone have or know of any FREE resources that show some mapped out books? I have a few I have done and have shared in the past. Looking for more options and don’t have time.
