Any insight into total comp for Principal equivalent (managing director) in PE firms like Blackstone, Silver Lake, Citadel, etc?

Even if you are ready to sell your soul, you wont be able to make it without HSW/MBB/BB. I am up for 3 years of 120 hours weeks for $10 mm.

@C4 - which part? The comp? Hiring profile? Have a relative who’s a MD (admittedly what sparked curiosity for comp) and half-dozen or so friends there, so is what I heard from them / have seen from LinkedIn - i.e., filter to current company and then prior company or school.

Honestly it varies quite a bit based upon carry. I’d assumed the base is minimum of $250k and then carry

Ya of course, more curious what the range in carry might be

If you’re a MD at blackstone and not pulling 5m+ you won’t be a MD at blackstone very much longer

To echo the above, 2MM at a mega fund as a partner means you are not succeeding. I would guess it’s something like 750k-1M cash per year, plus 20-30m carry over the life of the fund

If anyone wants to join a boutique HR & Talent Advisory consulting firm, Kincentric is hiring for an Associate Partner role! Location doesn’t really matter, but preferably in IL, NY, or ATL.
