I want to pivot internally to a Business Analyst position. I’m currently a Project Control Officer. I’m one year into a new grad program. Tbh, I don’t really like the work I do, even though I’ve grown and learned a lot. End goal is to transition to a Product Owner down the line. I feel like a BA position can help me get there. The problem is, when I casually mentioned the idea of applying to an internal position, my boss didn’t like it, so I lied and said I wasn’t. Should I just apply anyways?

Feeling these topics are getting hot in private sector consulting. Any insights greatly appreciated.

Boutique or big 4?

I'm currently an ops manager at a big 4 in London and received an offer from a small boutique firm with 25-30% pay rise.

I'm also in the process with Accenture but I feel like I'm not sure if I'd jump just for the money but also change in environment.
What type of things would you be asking yourself if you were in my shoes and debating to jump ship?

Should I just quit the legal field?

I have been a paralegal or legal assistant since 2010. I have worked for small and large firms and a TPA. I've worked in L&E, PI, and ID. Billing hours gave me nightmares. Right now I'm in a hybrid paralegal/LA position where I'm responsible for all of the docketing and supporting the managing partner and 1 associate and their 90+ ID caseload. I make a lot of mistakes everywhere I work. I feel so incompetent. Should I just abandon this career path?

Are there really such things as “guy movies”? I’ve been married a long time and known a lot of people over the years. I just saw Bullet Train and really liked it. IMDB rated it high so I suggested watching it with my wife. It turned out to be very Quentin Tarantino-esque and she really didn’t like it. Same with British humor (in the US anyway). I thought In The Loop was hilarious, and of course Monty Python. I know there are exceptions but, honestly, I haven’t found many.
