1st yr at a nyc v50 firm doing general transactional work. I know the lateral market for transactional lawyers is hot but not as hot for juniors. I just want a change of scenery because my current firm is bleeding good associates / not giving great training imo / and just seems small. Would lateralling this early feasible? My current title is the latter and I’m interviewing for a Principal role. The title suggests it’s more senior and would appear to be a promotion on my resume but the jd sounds similar to what I’m already doing. I’m currently and IC, Principal is also IC. The only nuance I got from the recruiter is that there is no actual designing in this role.
