Any S3s in the US without CPA in Big 4 Audit? Coming from overseas with CA qualification / 4 years exp applying for S3 roles, how much of a salary gap is there for CPA vs non CPA senior roles?

No gap but you can’t become manager without CPA so you will essentially be stuck at S3 until you get it. The only time you will have a gap is when you go to industry

Thanks, that's good to hear. Don't really mind no manager as this is more of a short term stint probably 1.5-2 years max. A sign-off bonus should hopefully make up for the lost opportunity of a M1 promo.

If you have CA, you can apply for transfer or something along those line and get CPA. I know someone from Canada who did this. You may have to take few tax classes or something like that. I know a lot of countries have reciprocity agreements and professional certifications from one country can transfer to another subject to some limitations. As for pay difference, there is no difference as D1 mentioned and you need a certification like CPA to become manager.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, it's the IQEX exam, basically just Tax portion of CPA exam, but I will still require just under ~2 years of experience to actually be able to sit it (thanks NASBA!)

Hi everyone! I’m a young CPA, relocating to Raleigh. I made the decision to transition into sales after realizing that I want to bring more fun into my career. I’m currently reading sales books, watching Keenan’s YouTube channel, and learning all I can. I’m relentlessly applying for SDR positions but I’m having trouble landing interviews (been applying through LinkedIn). I would appreciate advice from anyone who transitioned from another industry into sales. How did you break the barrier?

I hate how in consulting you’re constantly asked for your resume and have to essentially interview for new projects. At this point I’m just going to industry.

Have GCP TAM interview coming up soon, Any suggestions on what to read up on for the case studies. I feel I am pretty ready for the RRK (I hope) as I have around 3-4 years of hands on engineering/analyst/consulting experience with AWS/Azure/GCP. But I have never had to do a case study before Other than the Jeff Sipe recommendations, anything else anyone recommends I believe this might be a for generalist TAM probably l4/l5 (I have 5.5 YOE)

Exploring some internal advisory roles as well as external roles with mid sized firms - looking for advice on Big 4 advisory vs. with a mid sized firm? Personally I feel like I would get more exposure to different projects/clients at a mid sized firm, where at big 4 would prob be pigeoned holed in a specific niche sector/industry with little flexibility to try other things. Does consulting gives better compensation than tech and corporate? Right from undergrad, you can make partner in consulting a bit later than 30, even at principal level, you can make enormous amount of money while in tech (business roles) and corproate strategy (or business units) it is extremely hard to get even close.  e.g. principals in general makes much more than a director/senior director and even VPs+ while the former is way younger Is not taking consulting a mistake (post-MBA)? @mckinsey

New to the Bowl, greetings to all. I have a question for the sales leaders in the group about the design of sales comp plans. We are in professional services and our customers are about 50:50 retained and project-based. As such, we have an appetite for steady new business acquisition in addition to a need to provide excellent account management. Our gigs are usually in the 150K-750K range. Our BD process is very consultative, 99% of our leads are inbound. <more...>
