Any tips for becoming a senior? I'm a staff 2 taking on the role of senior on 2 accounts, and thus far I feel anxious all the time.

My number 1 tip if you end up being in charge of interns or first years is to invest as much time as you can with them in the beginning getting them up to speed, reviewing their work, teaching them, and see what they are capable of. This will pay dividends when you get super busy and don’t have as much time to watch over them. If you train them well they can really help you out but if you don’t put in the time early it will just hurt you

That is a good sign they think you can be acting senior. Set expectations from the start that you will make mistakes. There is a lot you don't see as a staff, or even senior, but do your best and ask questions. You will become the point of contact so good communication skills go a long way

Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.

What do you think?

My contract is ending 12/31/22 and can’t be extended legally according to our CFO. Worked in various increasingly responsible roles at the same organization as a FT employee in IT for 17 years and then took a buyout and chilled doing side gigs for 18 months then came back as temporary contract staff for the last 3.8 years as Business Analyst and Technical Writer. Curious to know if I’m being unreasonable in expecting my next Senior BA role to pay in the $110-130k range in the DC Metro Area.

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?
