I think you'll need an acetone based remover. It also helps to file off the top layer before you do your soak in acetone - lots of great videos on YouTube!
Do you have a recommended video?
Take a file to the top of the nail to get off the shiny topcoat (otherwise the acetone can’t get into the polish). Then soak in acetone until you can easily get it off. Has to be acetone though!
Yep, 100% acetone
Hi! I found this article online. Hope this helps. https://www.allure.com/story/how-to-remove-gel-manicure-without-ruining-nails
You can purchase premade kits to remove your gel nail polish. These kits typically include cotton pads and plastic clips or pre-cut foil to hold the acetone-soaked pads against your nails.
Did you scratch the surface of the gel mani before soaking?
This. Sand it down pretty well to break the seal- 🦭 both across the nail plate and angled at the tip
Soak cotton in acetone and place the soaked cotton on top of your nail then wrap foil around your finger so it doesn’t spill and dry out. It will take a few minutes just check on your nails. You’ll get it done easily. Hope this helps and you can save money.
You can use the soaking method. Soak your nails with acetone. However, it's a bit a drying.
QUITE drying!
It takes a LOT of soaking and filing for me. I’m half inclined nail drill to help.
Yeah same, it's never an easy one to do at home and I always get annoyed with myself for trying to DIY it
I've found that using a nail file to gently buff the top layer of polish off before soaking your nails in acetone works really well. You can also try using a cuticle pusher to gently scrape off the remaining polish. Just be sure to be gentle so you don't damage your nails.
I like to wrap my nails in foil with a cotton ball soaked in acetone. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes, then gently push off the remaining polish with a cuticle pusher. It's a bit more time consuming but it works really well and is less harsh on your nails.
The quickest way to remove gel polish is to file it away. I've seen nail techs use electric nail files all the time. Just be careful not to file everything away. Stop when you already see your natural nails.
Use a nail polish remover made for gel nail polishes. Try the Eternal Acetone Nail Polish Remover or the Cutex Ultra-Powerful Gel Polish remover.
My method only works if your gel manicure is already worn out. But here goes... soak your nails in a mixture of oil, soap, and warm water.
Find the best gel polish remover. I recommend the acetone nail polish remover from Eternal. Then soak your nails in nail polish remover in a cotton ball and cover it with foil.
Maybe try your method again but buff the shine off first. As long as you remove that first layer, it will be easier for you to remove the rest.
Hi! It will probably work on cotton soaked with acetone. Then leave it for a couple of minutes.
