Anybody moved from a "B" to McKinsey? 1 year post MBA and thinking about switching. Does one start fresh or is you're tenure considered (pre-first promotion)?

Why are you trying to do this? It’s going to be hard to explain unless it’s an office issue.

I assume he did not get an offer post-internship?

Are you saying from a “B” consulting firm as in “not an A tier”, or a “B” as in MBB for BCG or Bain?

Pretty sure it is doable. But I just can’t rationalize it. It is more common at partner level.

1) It’s doable, you just need to justify why and find an office that’s growing and that you like

2) Why in gods name would you want to do this?

I’m not sure if McK is more transactional or not, but it’s an odd reason to move—especially given that you’ll have less to “transact” as a newbie

I am project manager in clinical research industry (CRO). After earning PhD, I gave up my science dream to take a more stable job. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director l, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.

Is there a general expectation that a Partner has an MBA?

I doubt it's required at most firms but I'm a pretty senior staff and when I speak with Partners, they seem to speak with an MBA level of business knowledge which extends past their technical skillset.

I realize that's what makes them good Partners but it makes me wonder if I realistically need to get an MBA to keep growing and hit Partner.

How do people get on-site jobs while staying in India? I’m into business consulting-risk advisory-financial services & I have tried my heart out in applying everywhere (LinkedIn, indeed, company website) but no luck yet. Trust me, I’ve tried everything since past 3 years, how do people get it?

Hey everyone, looking for some advice. I’ve been working as a RC for a tech company for 15 months making 45k (I know I’m underpaid) and I’m looking to pivot. I feel really burnt out in this role and would love to transition to something else, perhaps another department. I don’t really want to be in an entry level role again, so what kinds of jobs should I be looking at where I can transfer over my skills easily? I also have customer service experience but would love to stay away from that. TIA!

Did anyone have an opportunity to make a career pivot but turned down the opportunity, and regretted later? Or was the absolute right decision? I have an opportunity to switch careers. I’m already in a good role (managing an analytics team at an established pre-ipo tech firm) and started here 5 months ago. But I’m wanting to try something else (product management). I got an offer from a startup to try out the role but am scared I might fail at the role or the startup (series A) will not do well
