I lead our SOC practice for a US mid tier cpa/consulting firm. I've been losing a lot of deals due to lower cost / boutique vendors who are partnered with these SOC automation platforms (Vanta, Laika, etc.). Is 7 weeks too early to start thinking I may have made a huge mistake in switching to my current gig? I left the last place because it was overr toxic and terrible W/L balance, for one that seemed to be more “fun” and more realistic hours, only to find that I’ve now been working 12 -14 hours a day and just drowning and feeling like I cannot catch up or catch my breath. Everyone is in the same boat here which is why I’m so overwhelmed so quickly with no support. Is this an immediate red flag?

What are some good practices during the sales phase of a potential project to execute before the contract is signed? Seems obvious but would love some ideas on standard operating procedures that help with seamlessly handing over a signed contract to the account team. For example, speaking to the potential client explicitly about their role in staying on schedule, reviewing scope creep consequences, etc.

For those of you in healthcare related account management, what is your healthcare background? I am clinical and getting ready to hire a higher level account manager. I am really biased toward people with clinical/in hospital experience because, quite frankly, healthcare is a different beast - lots of hand holding and change management.
