I recently interviewed with MITRE for a systems engineering role to make the move from Leidos where I feel underpaid for the work I do and for my experience ($85K). I have 4 YOE, a STEM degree, and soon will have a Masters Degree. I’m looking to make around $120K in the new role at Mitre. Does anyone have any insight into comp there? This would be in the DC metro area. Does $120K seem reasonable or am I dreaming?

Hitting quota is all about the patch you are given. You can be the best AE but if your patch does not have accounts that are buying, it will be a rough road. Salesforce operates on a monthly quota, but since the pandemic, buying cycles are taking longer and procurement is more involved. I would ask why the AE who had that patch left and how they did previous years. Only 20% of AE’s hit quota in my vertical last fiscal. We have some who have sold next to nothing this year to.
Thanks for the insight. I am coming from a place where the plans are very screwed up. Skewed and no reason given. Since the pandemic and economic situation, how has it been selling Salesforce products to customers? My salary is very low for the amount of work I am doing. $70k. I’m looking for upward mobility and a better paying salary alongside commission. I use Salesforce daily and love the product. I’m very tech savvy and believe I’d be a good fit. However, just thinking about if I get in and do not sell anything right away am I put the door?
In my team most reps (including yours truly) will sell nothing for the fiscal. A few will be a circa 15-20% attainment. It is tough depending on the patch you get and the timing in the account.
I would ask what % of the patch is new logo, attainment in the team, etc. You could get a small quota but no deals still leaves you with just base...
What product/segment SF2?
As a company and employer - I would say 100%! My problem is with my patch, not my team, leaders, perks, etc. It's pretty great, a part from the patch ;-) So qualify your patch wisely and target a team that will set you up for success.
Thank you. This info has been helpful prior to my interview.
