Anyone else at a firm so rooted in the past that you’re embarrassed explaining it to other attorneys?

Example: We are 10 months into COVID and my firm still hasn’t decided on/implemented a video meeting platform (Zoom, Teams, etc.). So if I want to have a video meeting I have to ask the other party to use their video services. And it’s not at all a funding issue.

Are you working at my “Boutique Law Firm” in Tulsa, OK? JK I’m the only associate and only one under 45.

Close! I’m one of three associates and I believe there are only four of us under 45, maybe?

We are split into the following groups:
(1) Those who have a good grasp of technology,
(2) Those who have a terrible grasp of technology, and
(3) Those who *think* they have a good grasp of technology but are really complete morons.

About three years before the pandemic, our firm switched managing partners from someone in group (2) to someone in group (1), thank goodness. Very quickly, the new MP set up new technology that allowed us to work remotely very simply, including VoIP phones, allowing calls to be routed to our cell phones or through the app we use, and secure VPN technology. The app we use also has a video conferencing service, so we use that for internal calls (it's like facetime). For external calls, we use Zoom.

But one 80 year old partner still says he has "zoom trouble." And then you have to remind him that you can use the dial-in, so stop making excuses.

We still don't have one. And frankly I doubt folks would use it.

After a hard reset on travel points (got none after Covid and change to industry) how would you start over? Which credit card is best for travel points? Airline? Starwood or Bonvoy? Avis or ??

At one time I had status on most airlines and hotels but I never bothered to focus on accumulating points since it seemed like they were infinite and I booked on convenience. Oh have times changed! I even let go of Amex platinum, just wasn’t worth it to me. Base airport LAX/SNA so no airline pref.

Hello Sharks,

I have been working for a Jaipur based Digital Marketing Agency for 2.5 years now. Overall I have 5 YoE in the industry.

I tired to switch the company for Growth & Learning, Got 60k + WFH offer. My current company matched the offer (60k + WFH). The company helped me a lot in my bad times (Covid, Mom's illness, my operation etc).
Can I think of switching the company after 6 months and expect 90k-100 from the next company?

What is your experience and what do you have them do?

Just a heads up: I had an interview with Benet in Jacksonville FL. Totally misleading from description in ziprecruiter (see posting below).
Turns out they want you to push covid tests (free if insured) to anyone and anywhere you can. Basicallyhang out in parking lots. Payment is $20/test. Wasn't anything that they advertised $20-30/hr +commissions/bonus, potential 80k 1st yr).

Is this legal?
My partner and I are moving out of our condo building in NYC at month end, and the building management (not our landlord) has communicated to us that, on top of the 1K non-refundable fee and 1K security deposit to move out (stated in lease), they are also issuing a $1,250 "sanitization fee" for the public areas (hallways/elevators), since we happen to be moving out during COVID19. We feel this is taking advantage of tenants during this time and may not be legal. Any advice helps!

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

so turns out BLR office peeps are spreading covid to fellow coworkers… leadership plz send help

New to the group. Husband’s drinking got out of hand and he’s currently seeking in-patient help while I’m in outpatient. It’s going well so far. But curious what tricks and tips y’all use in social situations like happy hours and birthdays? Covid has made this a little easier but not looking forward to when things open back up.
