It's always on my mind because I never seem capable of achieving it. Even on the days that I clock out right at 5, I feel work inevitably eats into my personal life - checking emails after hours, thinking about work issues before bed, feeling too mentally drained after work to see friends, etc. I don't know if it's just me or this particular job, but I'm having such a hard time keeping my work and personal lives separate right now.

Exactly, it’s so hard to check out when I can get emails on my phone.
I noticed this as well. I definitely take advantage of the flexibility and do a lot of my own personal stuff during the week. But then I also noticed I have a bunch of stuff that I need to finish for work at the end of the day and end up working late. I feel like I'd be happier if I could just sit down and focus, but sometimes, it's hard when you have other tasks and responsibilities that are also urgent. I've been trying to get up early, before my family wakes up, and get as much as I can done. That way I'm less stressed during the workday. So far it's going pretty well.

That’s good to hear. I feel like the personal things I do during my work day add to my inability to step away. I feel guilty not getting everything done when I’ve taken pause throughout the day
I know exactly how you are feeling. Over the last couple months I have made it a habit to leave work on time and not think about work when I get home. I don’t check my work email or respond to work related texts when I am off work. Sometimes you have to have firm boundaries or it will never feel like you have work-life balance because you are always thinking about work.
