This is an interesting situation. I think that OP should figure out a way to depart this work stream or project with a talk track like thisโฆโXYZ workstream/project is something that energizes me because itโs more aligned with my career goals. I'm currently in Tech Sales. However, I want to work with FAANG; it's literally my greatest dream. I have a UX Design Cert from General Assembly that I earned last year.
After months of applications and rejections, I left and got into tech sales because I knew I'd easily get a job and bills had to be paid.
I think I failed to get jobs because of a lack of visual design skills (my specialties were in project management and user research), and weak portfolio. What should I do?

Good morning. I am currently a senior associate in BugLaw, and I have applied to several trial attorney jobs in Chicago offices of federal agencies since the start of the pandemic. According to usajobs.gov, my applications to the DOJ and CFTC were โreferred,โ and my application to the SEC was received and my GS scale verified. But I havenโt received any updates on these applications in over a month. Does anyone here have any insights on these or on federal hiring generally? Thanks!

Vacation Question- Westin vs W (Paris)?
Iโd say less as I tend to drink at home during the weekend (when I get to be the chef too) - pre-COVID would be out for lunches /dinner with ๐ท๐พ๐ธ๐ฅ๐บ๐น
I realized sometimes I actually wanted a drink, but other times I was having one as a signal that itโs time to to relax and pay attention to my SO instead of my phone. Now I try to pay more attention to what I really want. if I just want to relax, I try to have the โcocktail experienceโ without the alcohol. I make a nonalcoholic drink and have it in the same spot I would be for a cocktail, leave my phone in another room, turn on a record, etc.
Much, much less with no happy hours and no travel. Wasnโt really intentional at first but now I drink maybe 2-5 drinks a week over 1-2 days and usually take 2 weeks off every month or so. Pre-covid was probably too high of a number drinking 4-5 x per week.
Some advice would be to ask why you are drinking more. Some other advice would be to grow older where the cost of the hangover after a couple drinks outweighs the benefits. ๐
D2, i agree it feels great not drinking. Especially waking up in the AM with no headaches.
Yes, a lot more. Haven't had an appetite for dinner most days, and a whiskey or two clears that right up.
For a while I would have a drink with lunch then never stop, after a few months this was happening on a daily basis and I would be be pretty "happy" by 5-6pm when it was time to finish up the day. Now I will not have anything until it's time to finish up. However I wouldn't get as drunk at the end of the day as I would be when I was on-site, however I wouldn't be on-site more than once every month so all in all I didn't drink more wfh than what I would when being on site just spread it out more over the day.
