you wanna reduce the influence AI has over the US and hear about it less? start supporting legislature to preserve our natural waterways and groundwater, can’t run the data centers if the water is protected for humans and wildlife and that will absolutely stunt AI development when they become hardware limited on model training times
You should look into it instead of debating me
Yep, 100% to all that
On the flip side, I keep reading about and trying to use it for fear of falling behind 🤷♂️
I’m starting to really worry about it. The potential exists for profound societal change that we are not remotely ready or equipped to deal with.
Gov't will not do the best, but only Gov't has the power to restrict (most) bad actors.
I would rather AI advancement go slowly than too fast; however I don't see Gov't doing much to slow the roll
I would say our best hope is that the economics don't support it; however, countries like China don't care about the economics, so the US Gov't would prop up the market so we aren't vulnerable from a domestic security perspective.
It is a tough spot.
While the hype is too much, there are still applications of it that are very promising. If we don’t do it, the Chinese will certainly do it. This is the new arms race. The winner will dominate this century.
Doubtful that domination will happen through LLMs.

The hype is ridiculous but the tool is seriously extraordinary.
It would be nice. Frankly, everyone building end-to-end AI process automations are class traitors, either wittingly or unwittingly.
But it's a Catch-22 though. A classic prisoner's dilemma. You're either complicit in enabling the cuts or you're the one being cut.
You will have more influence over the outcome by becoming an expert in AI than trying to stop the avalanche by standing in front of it.
I did an interview today and the finance leader said - we are trying to leverage AI, everyone has chat GPT. I giggled and won’t be taking that job.
Shhhhhh! They are listening
