Just my two cents, I don't think "Ex-McK" really means that much unless it's actually in consulting, and any competent hiring manager should know the difference
Bingo. Everyone here is obsessed with the name. It opens doors but you still need to have the qualifications. Even on the consulting side it’s not going to get you everything

Go McK
Rising Star
Would lean McKinsey but really depends on role and compensation. I know Mck has roles that are S&O managers that are chief of staff lite positions which are largely administrative with not a ton of room for growth
Rising Star
Also with the market trending as it is - would be targeted with your internal role. Is it something you could see them axing?
If you want to leave consulting why McK? Agree with the above post - outside of consulting I don’t think McKinsey holds as much weight. If youre going to make the leap do something that you will enjoy (and seems in this case pays more). Moving consultancies would be same sh** different company IMO
I see no benefit to being at McKinsey unless you are in their consulting practice. Being internal offers about as much benefit as being internal in any other professional services company. So unless you are passionate about consulting but not being a consultant (which would be odd I guess) I wouldn’t put any value on the Mckinsey name.
Depends on what you wanna do
My personal opinion is McKinsey has a good brand name and may have better growth opps, but it comes down to which role you feel you would enjoy the most in terms of work, culture, etc. There will always be lots of options regardless of which choice you make! Personally I have moved to smaller companies form bigger brands and enjoyed myself and still receiving lots of other opps across companies.
McKinsey.
