Can you negotiate a later start date with your offer? It should give you some time to at least know where you’re at with dream job. And despite what people say, asking for a month or so before your start date is NOT a big deal and 100% acceptable
Just take the okay deal, and quit if you get the dream job.
That was YOUR decision to not help them and give them a chance. You were already at another company.
If you’re currently employed, take the gamble. If not, take the guaranteed paycheck.
I’m kind of in this situation right now. Got hired for a sure thing - starts Monday. Nothing great but a good paying Junior freelance job.
But I just started interviewing with another place today. A big name agency at a small office on a big client. Not necessarily the dream position but I’m just a Junior so I want to start my career at a big name place. It’s a 4 month Freelance gig so something to start.
I just took the sure thing on the spot because I’ve been looking for work for 7 months with no traction on the agency front until just this week.
I got done with ad school just a week before lockdown so I have to take whatever I can get.
You must delay the start for the okay offer and interview for the dream. Now is not the time to worry about burning bridges. You have to go for it or you will regret it.
I think you should go for the dream job! Yes it’s a gamble but you’ll regret it if you don’t.
If you're a copywriter, can I have one? 🙏
Have you told the “dream” job that you have an offer on the table... if they want you they will adjust their calendars for you - if they are shifty then they never really considering you or planning on offering you the job anyway
Is there any way you could stall the first one to try and let the second one catch up a little?
Unfortunately not with the offer letter already on the table. Most I can delay it is probably 1-2 days max.
