I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

I can only give some perspective on XOM. I worked as a contractor at an XOM plant in Texas for 2 years. Everyone is miserable and super competitive because that’s the culture they have cultivated. The bottom 10% of performers gets cut regardless if they need the employees or not and you get ranked every year against everyone in your role/department. It’s been so bad in the last 2ish years that people on LinkedIn post about their departure from the company with the hashtag MassExxodus. When I was contracting for them, I really thought I wanted to work directly for them, but almost every employee I spoke with told me to run in the opposite direction.
For what it’s worth - I work at EM and I would disagree on all fronts. I’ve worked at other IOCs too
Can’t say anything negative about Chevron. Great people, great growth and learning opportunities, and amazing salary and benefits. Also, if you choose to, you can work what’s called a “9/80” so you work 9 hours a day for 9 days (which, I mean, who doesn’t work 9 hours a day…and you obviously get weekends off) so you also get every other Friday off…3 day weekends every other week!!! I love it.
Does legal get that?!
Amazing!!!!! I’ve been at Apple, LinkedIn, Amazon and startups in Silicon Valley and, in my role, I wasn’t expecting such a gigantic shift in the value of W/L - I feel it is a huge bonus at Chevron. Everyone respects it and also encourages time off, whether it’s leaving early, using (and going on!) vacation, or just taking time off for yourself (no need to share if that’s mental health, physical health or your family’s health).
I remember talking to a recruiter from one of those companies a while back and I could feel the respect and quality of life coming through the phone lol
Of the three here chevron is the best balance of good culture while still having smart colleagues.
As a former XOM employee and also a member of the Exxodus team of last year, I can say that in retrospect is one of the cushiest job with a high salary that you could have. People complain too much, but I. Reality they're paying you 100k+ to work 20 hours a week.
It just wasn't for me
Lol I didn't get laid off, I resigned.
It wasn't for me because precisely it was too comfortable. I wanted a challe ge so went out there and found it.
I have nothing bad to say about Exxon, save a few culture things that could be improved - but what company doesn't need some change to an extent?
I work for one of them (I don’t want to disclose which one). It’s been an amazing ride: excellent work, great WLB, respectful atmosphere. The compensation is fantastic, too, especially the retirement benefits and equity. I plan to stay until retirement if they’ll let me.
What’s the comp like?
What’s compensation for in-house counsel at the supermajors?
Have also wondered about this!
Shell is great, no real complaints. Good benefits and WLB. My only one negative would be pay increases over time are not great.
I work at XOM… I like it thus far though I’m relatively new. I think there’s been a culture shift since the exodus folks are talking about and plus I’m in the Law Department so that might have to do with it.
Very cool, thanks for the info!
I do! What are you curious about? I do have to say I work in CA - haven’t made it out to the new headquarters in TX.
Nice! What is the WLB like?
Any advice for someone who is interested in getting hired at Chevron?
Thank you for sharing
Ha - where, in what department and at what level?
